BEALTAINE FIREWALK MAY 3RD 7.30PM - 10.30PM 2019
Bealtaine marks the mid point between the Spring Equinox and the summer solstice. Come and celebrate Bealtaine here with us at Carrauntoohil Eco Farm as we will walk on fire to reawaken our passions and spark our creativity and enliven our souls.
The name is said to derive from Old Irish, meaning "bright fire"
Traditionally the main fire was lit at Uisneach - the centre of Ireland, the previous night all fires around the country would be extinguished and runners with fire from the main fire at Uisneach would pass the flame to light the fires in each townland. It was considered a rite of purification to pass through 2 bonfires and and sick animals would also pass between them for healing. Fire jumping was also common place to ensure fertility. Bealtaine is a time when man and woman would join together, later marrying at Lughnasa in August.
The warrior Goddess Maedbh and the God - The Green Man - preside over this festival - Maedbh is a Great Earth Goddess and The Green Man represents nature. Maedbh reminds us of our passions, what moves us and wakes us up and makes us come alive.
Carrauntoohil Eco Farm is nestled in scared magical land at the foothills of Carrauntoohil.
Please note there is no pressure to walk on the fire on the evening.
Please wear warm clothing and suitable footwear (boots) - as some of the ground may be muddy and we will be outside for the majority of the evening. You will also need a torch or head torch if you have one, you may want to bring a towel to dry your feet afterwards if the ground is wet.
If you have a drum or rattle you are welcome to bring this along also.
The event will be hosted by Vikki Cullen - who owns and runs Carrauntoohil Eco Farm
Contribution for the event is €50.00
To secure your place payments can be made with our paypal link https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/carrauntoohilecofarm or contact the page for bank details for bank transfer
Please PM the page or contact Vikki – or email [email protected] to confirm attendance as numbers are limited.
Camping is available for anyone wishing to stay the night also.

A Firewalk to Release
As we approach Samhain towards the end of October and the pagan year comes to a close - we can review the past year and months and bring forth anything within us that we wish to release.
The evening will consist of a fire blessing, sacred ceremony and walking on hot coals - with possibly a few other surprises along the way.
Firewalking can be hugely transformative - we will walk with the intention to leave behind in the fire anything which no longer serves us as we carry forward with us our intentions that we bring forward as we move through the fire and step into our power - transmuting any fears held within us through the flames.

Some Reviews from Summer 2014
We have just spent 2 nights with the most wonderful hosts here at Carrauntoohil Eco Farm. 3 small boys (1 baby) loved exploring your fabulous farm. Edward especially loved finding all the fairy 'treasures' along the nature & fairy trail. the Yurt was amazing and absolutely furnished to perfection. We had all we needed. The boys loved feeding the animals it was James' favourite part of the visit, the donkeys being his favourite. Thank you so much and we would love to come see you all again, Karen, Peter, James, Edward & Henry
We had a really fantastic two nights here. All our plans to go training on the bikes went out the window because its just too hard to leave here. Breakfast and dinners looking up at the mountains - pure bliss! Thank you so much John and Vikki you are fantastic hosts and do your utmost to ensure we have everything we need! We will be back! Thanks again Aoife & Richard
We spent 2 nights in our Yurt. It was such a wonderful place, a very special place, with all the old stones around, we love the animals and Vikki and John are so friendly, lovely. For our boys (15 & 16) it was a great adventure to get lost in the mountains, a good experience for their life! We wish you all the best for your project and your farm and many many guests, Heike, Jurgen, Felix & Jacob (Germany)
